Theatre Prospero creates productions of new and old theatre rooted in many cultures’ mythologies, from Zulu Epics to Shakespeare. 

 

The artists and audiences that come together to share these stories reflect their diversity. The venues where they meet include theatres in Edmonton, our home venue on Alberta Avenue, found spaces, classrooms, seniors’ centres and school gyms across Alberta. 

 

We give Alberta students the chance to create theatre themselves with professional artists via our School Artists In Residency Program.

In the last 20 years we have had the privilege to create on the land of and with peoples from:

                              Treaty 6: Traditional territory of the of the Cree, Dene, Blackfoot, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux and Métis. 

                              Treaty 7: Traditional territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy: Kainai, Piikani and Siksika as well as

the Tsuu T’ina First Nation and Stoney Nakoda First Nation.

                              Treaty 8: Traditional territory of the Cree, Dene and Métis.
