TERRIFICALLY AFFORDABLE SCHOOL TOURS SERIES
WHY SHOULD YOU BOOK WITH THEATRE PROSPERO?
New this season, the Terrifically Affordable Tour series is our latest project in ensuring that all youth, regardless of financial circumstance, are able to experience high-quality live theatre. We offer all of our touring productions by donation.
With Theatre Prospero you get to pick your performance date and time. We cater each performance to the school we are visiting and go to great lengths to ensure that your school's needs are accommodated.
We are always looking for ways to involve your students in our productions! Whether that is through assisting in the set up of our audience arrangement or a talk back session following the performance, there are always ways to enhance the student experience!
Theatre Prospero has performed for thousands of Albertan students over the last 18 years. Hear directly from some of the teachers whose schools we have had the pleasure of visiting:
"Bravo! All in all, this production made Shakespeare highly accessible for a Junior high audience. My students are now 'hooked on Shakespeare."
"All actors were professional and interacted well with the students. I was very impressed, as the music/drama teacher at the school."
"The kids were so engaged in the performance. Teachers were also interested. All who attended were amazed!"
"Our Grade Ones'were mesmerized during the play. They were really taken in by the live performance experience."
Frequently asked questions
How do your tours work?
Theatre Prospero brings the party to you! Our TYA shows are ready to hit the road, complete with professional actors, costumes, tech, and props. Most of our shows can be performed in a variety of spaces, such as music rooms, gyms, and large classrooms. You pick the date and your performance time. We make an effort to ensure that our performances fit into a standard school timetable block.
Are you a registered Vendor with Edmonton Public Schools?
Do you only tour to schools?
If you are not a school group and are interested in our show, please contact us! We have toured to seniors' homes and centres in past years.
What do we need from you?
1. A 'stage' space that’s at least 20’ by 20’ (Please contact us to discuss)
3. A power outlet for a speaker to be plugged into
5. A space where actors can change into their costumes
6. Access to the performance space 60-90 minutes before the show is scheduled to start
How many students can see the performance?
We've performed for classrooms of 20 students and gymnasiums of up to 200 students. If you have multiple groups interested in the show, there is a possibility we can do multiple performances at your school. Prior to our visit we will discuss with you the best set-up of your space using the resources you have to maximize the theatre experience for your students.
What is the cost?
We strive to make our shows available by donation or for free. Our mission is to ensure no group is turned away from these performances. Considerable financial assistance is available.
How do you accept payment?
At this time, Theatre Prospero accepts payment via cheque, or credit card.
Do you offer workshops for students?
Are there talkbacks following the performance?
Following performances, actors will be available to answer questions from students. This is all pending on how our shows fit into your timetable and how much time there will be following the conclusion of the performance.
